Coco Amardeil is a Canadian/French photographer and filmmaker, born in Toronto. Having grown up between London, São Paulo, Montreal, and Sydney, she ultimately settled in Paris to pursue her artistic career. A McGill University psychology graduate turned self-taught photographer, Coco honed her craft over nearly a decade assisting top fashion photographers in Canada and France. Established as an independent photographer in Paris since 1998, she has developed a distinctive visual language that bridges fashion, storytelling, and cinematic imagery.
Coco Amardeil’s work is characterized by striking contrasts. Her subjects, often unexpected and diverse, range from fashion models to sewers, sharks to teenagers, and even bikers. This diversity of themes, along with her unique visual approach, is an integral part of her artistic identity. Recognized for her creativity, bold perspective, and impactful style, she pursues artistic projects alongside editorial and commercial collaborations with renowned magazines and brands such as Telegraph Magazine, Vogue Bambini, and Madame Figaro, as well as iconic brands including Bollinger, Le Bon Marché, Rochas, Hermès, and Armani Perfumes.
Coco Amardeil’s work is regularly exhibited. A resident artist at the Planches Contact Festival in Deauville in 2024, she has received numerous awards, including the Professional Fine Arts Award in 2018, the LensCulture Portrait Award in 2017, the SAIF Prize at Voies Off, Arles in 2017, as well as the Coup de Coeur Talent Grant at the BNF in 2018.
